Selection Criteria

One can never guarantee the critical nor commercial success of any film project. However, the Cellarat Productions team and its advisors will always look for certain key elements that are usually present in a successful British film. Generally, we are looking for a strong representation of the following elements:

Script

We are looking for narrative driven scripts that present snappy, unforgettable dialogue that will linger in the imagination long after the film has ended. We’re looking for strong, compelling storylines. Above all, we’re looking for fascinating, layered characters and relationships with whom audiences can powerfully identify and in whom they can emotionally invest.

Director

These will either be established, award-winning auteurs or up-and-coming talents in whom we believe passionately. Directors must have a clear, vibrant and consistent sense of visual language that maximizes the impact of the story on the audience. Cellarat Productions ltd's slate of films has so far been directed by the treble BAFTA-winning David Blair, nominated and acclaimed directors and Producers.

The Cellarat Productions team will always be producers on the films in the Slate. As well as drawing on the considerable production experience of the in-house team, when appropriate we will partner with experienced, innovative third-party producers with proven track records.

Cast

We aim to cast actors that suit their roles both physically and in terms of their emotional range and emotional power. Cellarat Productions will look to attach talent that has commercial appeal, with an inbuilt fan-base that has proven the actor’s capacity to aid the selling of the film successfully across all platforms.

The Cellarat Productions team has worked with actors of the calibre of Luke Treadaway, Iwan Rheon, Vanessa Kirby, Bernard Hill, Virginia McKenna, Simon Callow, Mark Williams, Lars Mikkelsen, Michelle Fairley, Timothy Spall, Edward Furlong, Method Man, Denise van Outen, Ricky Tomlinson, Paul Barber, Luke Norris, Antonia Thomas, Jonathan Hyde and Stephen Graham amongst others Athale and Nirpal Bhogal, and the commercially proven young hot shot Mo Ali.
